Manchester United travelled to Spain for the Europa League Semi Final hoping to put their Premier League struggles behind them. Despite being undefeated, United have been on the wrong end of way too many draws and repeatedly dropping 2 points sees them sat in 5th position chasing the top 4. As of now, it seems that winning the Europa League would be United’s best chance of qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League competition.

United won the game 1-0 thanks to a stunning free kick from their young wonderkid Marcus Rashford. However, it took some time for them to find a way through as Vigo ‘keeper Sergio Alvarez did absolutely superb to prevent The Red Devils from taking maybe a 3-0 or 4-0 victory on the night. Rashford’s goal came in the 67th minute but worryingly for Mourinho and United, the youngster limped off the pitch less than 15 minutes after his goal. United also appeared to lose winger Ashley Young through injury also, as if they needed any more injury problems right now.

A 1-0 away win for United is a great result, it puts them in total control for the second leg next week in Old Trafford. All they have to do is hang on and they’ll be going to Stockholm for the Europa League Final.
