Chaos In Catalonia

UEFA Champions League First Knockout Round

Following a horrific 4-0 defeat in the first leg, Barcelona needed something of a miracle to come back into this one. Low and behold a miracle is exactly what they got on this magical night inside the Camp Nou as they blew away the competition with a sensational comeback victory of 6-1 on the night, 6-5 on aggregate. A quick start from the Catalans, got them off on the right foot. Uruguayan superstar Luis Suarez, takes advantage of some poor defending and goalkeeping in all honesty as he heads home in the 3rd minute to make it 1-0.With one goal down, the home side kept pressing to find the remaining 4. Barca’s 2nd came in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, for PSG fans, it came as a deflected clearance from Lavyan Kurzawa went into his own net, ensuring Barcelona took a 2-0 lead into the break. The hosts continued in the second half just as they finished the first. Winning a penalty in the 50th minute when Neymar is brought down inside the box. Lionel Messi stepped up calmly to slot home for 3-0.  Just as things looked to be going Barcelona’s way, The Parisians decided to spoil the party as Lavyan Kurzawa heads down a lofted free kick allowing Edinson Cavani to make it 3-1 from 12 yards out. This crucial away goal swung the entire tie back into the favour of the visitors. With the tie looking over, there was late drama in this one as Barcelona refused to go down without a fight as Neymar scores a beautiful free kick in the 88th minute to make the score 4-1. It wasn’t long after Barca were back at it refusing to quit as they were awarded a 91st minute penalty. Neymar converted the penalty to make 5-1, 5-5 on aggregate. With 5 minutes added on, there was yet more drama to come as Sergi Roberto volleys past Kevin Trapp to make 6-1! 6-5 on aggregate.

This has to be one of the most sensational come backs of all time! Barcelona were in a different world to PSG tonight and they absolutely hammered that point home by putting 6 past Kevin Trapp. Barcelona will advance to the 1/4 Finals.

After a 1-0 defeat, Dortmund had a rather easy task compared to that of Barcelona. Dortmund won the game 4-0. After an inspirational hat trick from the much sought after striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and another goal for youngster Christian Pulisic, Dortmund cruised through into the 1/4 finals. The Gabon international wasted no time as he got himself on the score sheet within just 4 minutes. An early corner from Ousmane Dembele found Pulisic in the box, he managed to flick the ball onto an unmarked Aubameyang who pounced on the ball to make it 1-0. Pulisic joined in the fun, when he chipped the goalkeeper Ederson on 59 minutes to make it 2-0. Not long after the second goal had gone in, so had the third as Dortmund were at it again as Aubameyang added his second of the night after a neat pass from Marcel Schmelzer, allowed him to put the ball past Ederson for 3-0. Aubameyang completed his hat trick 5 minutes from time as he turns the ball in the net after a Gonzalo Castro cross to close the game out 4-0.

Dortmund were in cruise control all night here after that early goal, there never was any real doubt that they would lose this tie. It was good to Aubameyang bounce back after his dreadful first leg perfomance which actually led to him being subbed off the pitch. Borussia Dortmund advance to the 1/4 Finals.
