With last weeks 3-0 victory at Old Trafford, United were in a commanding position thanks to the Zlatan hat trick. Jose’s side started fast looking to kill the game off for the hosts. The home fans were roaring their team on right from the start. That wasn’t for long as Mkhitaryan finished off a brilliant move for the Red Devils to make it 1-0. A brilliant cross into the box from the left hand side by Mata allowed Mkhitaryan to put the ball into the far corner. The home fans once again roaring their team on even after United settled the tie. The teams went into the break with United leading 1-0. United absolutely dominated the whole game Saint Etienne rarely offered much in an attacking sense. It was a comfortable victory for United even though they finished the game with 10 men as Eric Bailly was sent off in the 63rd minute. Bailly recieved a second yellow card in 2 minutes for two tackles on Hamouma catching him late on both occasions. Bailly will now miss the next game in this competition.

An easy win and good performances over the two legs sees United progress into the last 16 of the competition where they will face Russian side Rostov.
